Located in the north of Paris, between the ring road to the north and the more upscale districts of the 9th and 19th, the 18th arrondissement welcomes a variety of communities but also, and increasingly, a young and trendy population seeking authenticity of a popular Paris. Bubbling with life, the 18th becomes more and more side.

The 18th offers several faces. Its inhabitants will be able to evoke in the first place the stairs of the Butte, the famous butte Montmartre, symbol in the realistic song of Bruand, Piaf and Fréhel, of Paris which works and which suffers. Closely linked to the Paris Commune, Montmartre also represents the tradition of cabarets, which still attract as much, residents as tourists, like Chez Cousin, rue Nourvins or the Sacred Heart, Rue Foyatier. Between the vines of the Clos Montmartre, rue des Saules, and the caricaturists of the Place du Tertre, the Montmartre lovers will find a village atmosphere. In contrast to this atmosphere, some of which denounce the artificial side, the locals are happy to talk about the district of La Goutte d'Or, to the Boulevard Barbès where grocery stores and exotic restaurants reflect the mixed origins of local residents.

The 18th is often reduced to two images, that very touristy of Montmartre and that of the districts of Pigalle to the Goutte d'Or. Between these two clichés, the inhabitants benefit from a dynamic and very animated district, cosmopolitan and welcoming. This largely explains the craze it arouses and its progressive gentrification!
